App Sketching

This is my first attempt at iPad sketching. Honestly, I thought iPad sketching was a stupid idea until I saw some really awesome stuff on the internets yesterday, which prompted me to spent $6 on Procreate. I don’t have a stylus, so iPad drawing seems very unnatural so far. I just need to spend another $50 on a fancy pants stylus to find out if this is for me…

The library ain’t just for readin’.

Pen & Ink, Sketches, Watercolor

Henceforth, one day a week will be draw at the library day. I will spend two hours, alone, at the library drawing to my heart’s content. This will be so awesome. It’ll be like meditating and yoga, but with something to show for it at the end.

While at the library this week, I came across a book called Creating Textures in Pen & Ink with Watercolor, by Claudia Nice. This book is very exciting for me because I like drawing in pen and ink AND I like watercoloring! Jackpot.

I check out and buy LOTS of art books. I love reading them and looking at all the pretty pictures. But usually I look through them once or twice and stick ’em on the shelf with all the rest, not to be looked at again for all eternity. That is going to change, my friend. I will now use my SSD (Sustained Silent Drawing) time to try techniques in the books with my own subjects. ┬áThese two drawings use techniques described in the Creating Textures in Pen & Ink book with some marbles I swiped from my mom and a leaf I found at the park.
